Presidential elections: Interactive notepad that can make you a better voter!
We are becoming increasingly aware of the power of our vote. You realize how crucial every vote is when you look at the very close races and inconclusive polls, not to mention the French 2002 protest vote against the main parties which pushed the extreme right to a historical high result.
I know I will be voting in a few days to elect our next French President but, as yet, I don’t know who I will cast my vote for. I would like to vote for the candidate who most closely reflects my thoughts and values, but this is not such an easy thing when you consider what’s at play: platform, personality, past experience, public profile ….
So I came up with an interactive notepad to help me sift through the options during this presidential election. I imagined a simple, practical and very precise questionnaire without political or ideological leanings.
- I draft a list of potential candidates under consideration.
- I identify various criteria and attribute a relative weighting to each.
- And finally I evaluate the candidates whom I have chosen based on those criteria.
In the end, I get three results:
- A score for each candidate based on my opinion of them in each category
- A synopsis of the results in table format
- A review of my criteria based on the importance that I attribute to each.
As the election progresses, I can review the questionnaire and modify my assessment without having to redo the whole thing.
And to all of that, we added a Brazilian web designer to deck it out in style, Amaury the magician to pull it all together and Anne-Laure to polish the texts. We then asked a few friends to test it (thanks to all who participated) and we added the option of posting comments to help us improve it!
It is definitely not an easy questionnaire and you will not get the fun of some of the other quizz, but it should help you make a decision.
Unfortunately it is only available in French for the time being. But if I get enough interest and maybe volunteer to help, I will definitely consider translating it into English. So if you are interested, drop a line in the comment or by email to let me know.
